Abelsen International (A.I.) is a registered business entity in the Republic of Singapore. The business was registered in 2002 by proprietor and Managing Director; Jacob Abelsen.

We were involved in a handful of different business ventures before specialising in products and services for the defence sector.

Abelsen International started representing Bruhn NewTech in 2003. The collaboration resulted in sales of CBRN/NBC emergency response software and services to Singapore Civil Defence Force and Republic of Singapore Army. Abelsen International also contracted Bruhn NewTech to train officers and staff of Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces, Singapore Police Force and Singapore Technologies Engineering in various CBRN/NBC courses.

Our activities in homeland security and defence led to more exclusivity agreements with European companies which needed a sales and marketing partner in Asia Pacific. Most noticeable was the agency agreement with Roshield A/S, a company specialising in design, development and manufacturing of composite armour. We started representing Roshield A/S in South East Asia and the collaboration expanded to most of Asia Pacific, when Royal TenCate Group bought Roshield A/S in February 2007. The exclusive agency agreement covered the composite armour solutions for land vehicles, naval vessels and aircrafts.

TenCate Advanced Armour and Abelsen International agreed to start a TenCate Advanced Armour APAC office in Singapore after several years of collaboration. The idea was, and still is, to have a bigger footprint in Asia Pacific, as the market for composite armour continues to grow. The office was officially opened in January 2012 and the local team is responsible for sales, marketing and technical support activities throughout Asia Pacific. Jacob Abelsen is now working full time for TenCate Advanced Armour APAC as a Director.
